I must thank the committee of NEWS for inviting me to judge at this great new venue, Bob for his excellent stewarding and of course those who entered their Whippets at the show. I was very pleased that, apart from one broken tooth, all dentition was clean and good; sadly the same cannot be said about the feet with several exhibits’ feet being discoloured! On many exhibits the nails were too long, overall not making a good first impression. Although top quality male Whippets were present, the overall quality of the dogs was not quite so high. This was particularly noticeable with the usual bug bear of size but, for me, mainly in movement where ‘exaggerated’ front profile movement has become ‘correct’ for some; often at the expense of good fore and aft movement.
Veteran Dog (4,1) 1 Winkley-Balmer's Ch Crosscop Brilliant That's Me: Stood alone in this class. Seven years old dark brindle. Good length and depth of body, not as shapely as some. True coming and going. He was in excellent condition and shown to perfection by his young handler.
